Feast with Oriental Classic at Shangri-La's Mactan Resort & Spa Lunar New Year Celebration

Last Saturday, together with Cebu Media, Bloggers and special Guests, I feted the Year of the Metal Rat with sumptuous Oriental Classic dishes that definitely made our New Year celebration more festive!

The resort’s Chinese restaurant, Tea of Spring, a nationally acclaimed award-winning restaurant, offers Lunar New Year set menus that will be available from January 24 to 31. Featuring oriental classics such as Steamed Live Grouper in Double Deluxe Soy Sauce, Fresh Tiger Prawn served with Exotic Fruit Salad, and Steamed Fish Fillet with Truffle Spinach Sauce, the menus will truly delight the palates of families ringing in the year together. Set menus start at PHP1,988++ per person. Each set menu comes with a plateful of Yee Sang for families to do their Prosperity Toss. Dynamic A la carte menu is also available for smaller groups of diners.

The Lunar New Year celebration at the resort will formally begin at 10:18 a.m. at the Main Lobby. As a tradition, there will be an eye-dotting ceremony for the lion and dragon dance to bring in good luck; followed with a string of firecrackers meant to drive evil spirits away; culminating with the Prosperity Toss, a beloved ritual to bring in a long life, prosperity, and unity for all. Throughout the weekend, all-day dining restaurant Tides has set the stage for an indulgent celebration, as well. Guests were invited to dine and drink to their heart’s content at the Lunar New Year Lunch and Dinner Buffet, which was available from January 24 to 26.
