Cebu has been a second home to our dear brothers and sisters from South Korea. That's why most of them are close to our hearts as we are influenced by their culture, food, and music not to mention the KPOP craze to millennials and young at heart. On 2019, South Koreans will surprise us with their guest performance in the country's largest festival, the Sinulog Festival! It was reported on Cebu Daily News that representatives from Wonju Dynamic Dancing Carnival will grace our Festival next year!

“This is the first time in Sinulog history that there are foreign contingents who will be guest performers,” said Councilor Dave Tumulak, Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) overall chairman. “(Representatives from) Wonju Dynamic Dancing Carnival sent a communication to SFI, stating they want to join Sinulog 2019,” he added. (Source: CDN)

Last weekend, we had a chill year-ender travel to Boracay Islandtogether with my "Laagan" officemates. After eight months from closure, the new Boracay has a lot of changes that we noticed and netizens reported on social media and generally, they are so proud of the outcome! Do you want to know what are the changes we noticed when we visited the beautiful island?

Here Are The Changes We Noticed When We Visited The New Boracay!

1. Hostel/Hotel Reference During Check-in

Going to our bus for Manila-Caticlan trip!

When we did our flight check-in in Cebu Pacific, the staff asked us a reference for our Hostel/Hotel reservation before they finally printed our boarding pass. You may show your email communication with the Hostel/Hotel or if they have the confirmation receipt, much better!

2. Hostel/Hotel Reference Before buying Tickets in the Jetty Port.

This is the same as mentioned in number 1, there's a table in Jetty Port entrance that will require all passengers or tourists to fall in line and present their hotel/hostel reservation. The staff will search and confirm if the said hostel/hotel is accredited. After which, you will get that approval mark in your hand! (wink) Then you can proceed in buying the terminal fee (PHP 100), environmental fee (PHP 75) and pump boat fare (PHP 25).

3. No Using of Straw in Restaurants and Fast Food chains.

Just for testing purposes, we tried asking for straw in McDonald's and to be fair with the staff, they really urged us not to use a straw. I love this new and little way of supporting our environment!

4. Less Noise Pollution during Night hours.

What I noticed when the time ticked at 11:00 PM, some beachfront bars lowered down their music and we can actually notice that the beachfront area from stations 1 to 4 are bare - nobody is partying in front of the beach.

Since there's no nightlife in beachfront, we decided to visit Galaxy. And that would be our new and last time to party there. There's no entrance fee but the table is worth 1k, 2k and so on. Not to mention the bacardi gold is worth PHP 3,000 - triple price from the original price of PHP 750!

5. Wider Seashore

A lot of establishments were moved backward which gives a wider version of Boracay's white sand. Just lovely!

6. Cleaner White Powdery Sand

Due to the above actions, we can now enjoy a cleaner, white and powdery sand of Boracay. You can chill and just sit and watch for the best Sunset in the Philippines.

7. No more tents, tables, and chairs set up in front of establishments near the beachfront. 

This is one of the reasons that you can enjoy a wider seashore!

8. No More Filamentous Green Algae!

Yes! Remember those green algae in the seashore? You won't miss them as the beach shores are very clean and worth the swim. Take a dip! 

This couple really love Boracay! Such a sweet gesture in the white sand.

9. There are establishments which are closed by the Government

I could say some establishments which are closed but to be fair to them, they might need to process their documents for them to be functional soon. Hoping for the best!

10. Road Widening and Building of Sidewalk 

One of the major changes is the road repair and widening. Also, a nice and clean sidewalk is currently being built with bricks. I will come back to Boracay soon!

It was a Sinulog Festival Weekend in Cebu and I originally planned to do some Sinulog Photography with my new Realme C1 Smartphone but I actually forgot that I'll be spending my weekend in Hong Kong! So, my office friends and I decided to escape from crowded Sinulog Festival last week. But of course, my family and I decided to attend mass days before the trip. Every year, we always try to do an out of country trip but since we did not book a good ticket last December, we had it last January - travel to the most expensive destination ever - Hong Kong! In this long-post article, I'll be sharing to you our itinerary, guide, budget and what to prepare before traveling to Hong Kong.

PREPARATIONS

To be used in the Airport and Immigration
1. Philippines Passport with 6 months validity left before expiration
2. Printed (or not, saved in a smartphone) Round trip Airplane ticket
3. Printed (saved) Hotel Accommodation bookings
4. Printed (saved) Vouchers of your activities such as Peak Tram voucher in Klook or Disneyland voucher in Klook.
5. Printed (saved) Leave Approval - This is actually optional but my friends always make sure to print out our Leave Approval since we are working in the same company and the immigration officers might ask about it.
6. As much as possible, book your tickets or activities using Klook especially the Disneyland, Ngong Ping, Peak Tram, Macau Ferry and many more. See below for the details on what we booked in Klook for this 4-day Trip.

Personal Preparation
1. Travel Adapter - Hong Kong has a different type of power socket, so better secure a travel adapter like the global one. You can get one from Handy Man for just PHP 230.00. Choose the Omni brand coz it will last long.

Hong Kong is one of the expensive countries in the world. So, for a 4-day trip to Hong Kong and Macau, you might want to prepare a total of PHP 30, 000.00. Here's why?

*** One Philippine Peso is equal to 0.15 HKD
*** You can go to the 2nd floor of Chungkin Mansion to get a Peso to HKD exchange. Take note, 2nd floor and not the ground floor. You can lool for Pacific Exchange or Galaxy Exchange for a better exchange of peso to HK dollar.

ITINERARY and GUIDE

Since it's a 4-day trip, we make sure to make it "Sulit!" It's like, we are overloaded with activities and destinations in these four days. Now, let me guide you with our itinerary in the simplest way.

DAY 1: Victoria Peak with Peak Tram

A week before your flight, make sure to book a ticket in Klook entitled "Peak Tram + Sky Pass with Sky Terrace 428 Admission - One Way". Another advantage if you book in Klook is that you don't need to fall in a long line just to ride a Peak Tram going to Victoria Peak. Trust me, it is convenient when you book ahead. Also, it's cheap than the one purchase in the ticket center there.

How to go to Victoria Peak via Peak Tram?

1. From Tsim Sha Tsui, ride MTR going to Central Station
2. From Central Station, follow the sign to Exit J2
3. Once you're outside Central station, grab your smartphone and follow the directions going to Peak Tram building. This is just  8-10 minutes walk.

You won't miss taking a pose with such amazing city background!

What to expect in Victoria Peak?

A beautiful and vast panorama of Hong Kong skyline! Make sure to go there afternoon till evening to get the best Sunset view of the City. And, riding a Peak Tram going to the peak is one for the books! It's like a mini-ride in Disneyland. In addition, you can also buy some "pasalubong" inside their mall.

DAY 4: Ngong Ping and City Tour

FIRST PART
How to go to Ngong Ping? Note: We need to use Octopus Card for this journey.
1. Ride the MTR station from Tsim Sha Tsui (Tseun Wan Line or the Red Line) and get off at Lai King Interchange.
2. Ride the Tung Chung Line Yellow (Orange Line ) and get off in Tung Chung Station.
3. Exit at Exit B.
4. Once you see the City Gate Outlet Mall, go directly to the left side (facing the City Gate) and you can see entrance going to the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car ride.
Important Note: Don't forget to book Ngong Ping Ticket via Klook for easier and fast access.

What to expect in Ngong Ping?

1. Cable Car experience - When we book the ticket via Klook, we were attracted to the crystal cabin so we chose the Crystal Cable Car. It did not fail us! Amazing view below our cable car and we saw a 360 view of Lantau Island and some islets in Hong Kong. It was really worth all our HKD pennies!

2. Po Lin Monastery

3. Ngong Ping Village - A lot of stores and restaurants are available inside the village. All corners are instagrammable!

4. The Big Buddha - You need to take 268 steps going to Tian Tan, the Big Buddha in Ngong Ping. The view is amazing and you can walk around to witness the bird's eye view of a green Hong Kong - not the huge buildings but the green scenery of the City. Just lovely!

SECOND PART
In the afternoon, we then decided to visit some of the Tourist destinations in Tsim Sha Tsui. This part is the easiest way to navigate. Just make sure you got the Flypack internet and google map, then you will be okay!

When traveling to Hong Kong, you won't miss Macau on your itinerary. In this short article, I will give you a quick guide on how to travel to Macao (Macau) if you come from Hong Kong. There are two options to go to Macau, using Ferry or by Bus but in this article, I will only focus on using Ferry. An addon is who to contact in Macau to serve as your Tourist guide! Check below!

PREPARATIONS:
1. Prepare your Philippines Passport
2. Printed Vouchers if you bought tickets from Hong Kong to Macau (vice versa) on Klook
3. Printed itinerary roundtrip of your plane ticket in case immigration will look for it.

FROM HONG KONG TO MACAU!
1. If you come from Tsim Sha Tsui, walk to China Ferry Terminal Canton Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong.

2. From the Terminal, go directly to Cotai lane. Important NOTE: Make sure to come 30-45 minutes before the travel time.

7. Grand Lisboa Palace - we did not go inside coz it's more instagrammable outside the hotel.

9. Gondola Ride - Of course, you won't miss the Gondola Ride in Venetian when visiting Macau. Always book a ticket in Klook for a cheaper price and package.

Two weeks after its released, Alita: Battle Angel Movie is now one of my 2019 Movies. Why? Every frame is important and is not a "Miss" of the movie. That's why for me, never a dull moment with Alita! This latest Anime Adaptation is one of the best! It talks about future technology - cyborg and stuff  - and of course, some drama that definitely a part of every corner of the story. I'm excited to eat my USDA Premium Steak!!!!!

Angus Dan's is a New York City inspired steak and seafood house that serve creative fusion salads, appetizers while still serving traditionally grilled steaks and seafoods with a modern twist. The signature salad is the "Sugbu Salata", which is a salad of mixed greens, fresh mangoes, Seaweed (guso) and topped with sea grapes (lato) and crispy danggit bit drizzled with a sweet Olive oil-based dressing. They also have the other salad offering such as Greek Salad, Asian Prawn Salad, and salad ala Pescatora.

The interiors are very urban-chic set on a rustic background. Giving it a homey but upbeat feel. "Angus Dan's still adheres to the philosophy of Choobi Choobi. We will serve good food but at the same time give you the best bang for your buck." Says Constantine Tanchan, Choobi Choobi CEO.

Surprisingly, prices are quite reasonable despite the ambiance of the place.

Parking is not a problem. They have free valet parking. but if you don't want your car driven by someone else, a huge exclusive parking area is only a few meters away.

It was two weeks ago when I got the invitation to visit Kinatarkan Island. When I got the message, I was like "where's that island?" and the geek on me started searching for an answer and got curious about what this place can offer. But it was last weekend when I got a chance to visit Kinatarkan Island, the forgotten Paradise in Northern Cebu!

Kinatarkan is the famous name of Guintacan island situated in northern Cebu and is part of the municipality of Sta. Fe with three barangays: Hagdan, Kinatarkan, and Langub.

HOW TO GET TO KINATARKAN ISLAND?

---

1. From where you are located or living in Cebu, go to North Bus Terminal to start.
2. From Mandaue City's North Bus Terminal, take a Ceres Bus going to Daanbantayan. The fare is PHP 205. You can get the first-hour ride, 12:00 Midnight. Important Note: If you are in doubt, ask the Ceres Bus Driver to drop you off at the corner going to DaanBantayan Pier/Port. 
3. From the mainland, take an available pumpboat docking in the port. You will get off the boat at Pasil Beach, Kinatarkan Island. Fare is PHP 50. But if you wish to rent an entire boat, you can have it in PHP 1000 or more.
4. Then get a motorcycle ride to where you're planning to set a camp or a resort to stay. The fare is PHP 30.

WHERE TO STAY IN KINATARKAN ISLAND?

Camping at the Beachfront. It is famous to set-up a tent at Willie’s Beach Resort. But what's the catch?

Advantages:

• It only cost PHP 200 per head for a tent set-up. 
• This includes the use of a bathroom which is public.
• Water for washing and electricity for charging are available.
• You can enjoy beachfront and the white sand

Disadvantages:

• You will be setting up your tent to a number of campers out there. Yes, it will be crowded most especially Summer is coming.
• The bathroom or CR is not that really nice but it's okay

*** These are just what I noticed when we inquired in the place.


Book A Resort. There's one famous resort on the island which gives a good beachfront view but when we booked Forest Beach Resort which is part of Bitoon, we got hooked!

Why in Forest Resort?

In just PHP 250 per day, you will get a comfortable Bed to sleep, a towel for wash-up, a clean bathroom to change, a kitchen where you can cook and eat properly and most importantly, a safe shared room where you can leave your stuff after a long day on exploring the island.

The best thing we experienced in this place was Kuya Berlito is very accommodating! His family even managed to share some food and local dishes to us. I personally love the dried fish he gave to us on the last day.

Not to mention, Forest Resort got the best Sunset View of the island!

KINATARKAN ISLAND TOURIST SPOTS

So, Kinatarkan Island is a very big place. What are the Spots or destinations on this island that every Locals and tourist can visit and enjoy? Here's a quick list!


BYARING CLIFF. Our first destination is my favorite. I think we spent at least 2 hours for just exploring and taking some amazing photos in an instagrammable gifts of nature.

LAAW LAGOON. This is second to my list as it gives an amazing and stunning lagoon view of the island. Important note, the place is not open to the public yet but try to ask your guide if there's a way to check the place out.

HAGDANAN BEACH. Situated in Barangay Hagdan, this beach is famous for its long stretch of white sand and clear water. Good place for quick dip guys!

PASIL BEACH. It is where Kinatarkan Wellness Resort situated. This is where your pump boat docked when you come from the mainland. The best white sand of Kinatarkan so far.

BLUE BEACH. My least favorite. Just beach and some not so white but good for taking pictures sands. A number of pump boats are parking in this area.

Every year, I always try to organize a Thanksgiving birthday dinner for my beloved Blogger friends and trust me, it is very difficult to find a good venue for this kind of celebration. It is always a problem with what restaurant should we go most importantly if you are a group of 10 or above.
