Tech startup Lista PH aims to help small businesses, freelancers and individuals all over the country gain free access to digital tools to manage their business and collect over PHP 75 million in receivables via a smartphone. 

Through its financial inclusion app, Lista PH provides Filipinos a free and secure way of managing finances such as tracking debts, recording transactions, and even issuing invoices.

“Helping Philippine MSMEs was an advocacy close to my heart. Growing up, I saw the challenges my family endured in running a sari-sari store (community store),” shared Lista PH co-founder Aaron Villegas. “I spent almost a year just talking to various MSMEs in the province and trying different ideas to help them grow. And that’s when I realized that the first thing to do to really help them grow is through digitization and replacing pen and paper with easy-to-use tech,” he adds.

As the pandemic struck early last year, digitization of business processes proved to be pivotal in ensuring the continuity of business operations. Micro, small and medium enterprises or MSMEs were among the most affected during the prolonged quarantines - 74% of these businesses halted operations due to the lockdowns according to the Department of Trade and Industry. MSMEs are vital to the Philippine economy as they comprise about 99.51% of business establishments in the country and employ around 63% of the country's workforce, according to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Lista PH also conducted a survey among 300 microentrepreneurs on the topic of how they do their record-keeping. Results showed that 26% are not able to track all their income and expenses. 64% also said that they use traditional and most often manual methods to monitor income, expenses, and customer debts such as writing on notebooks, while only 3% use digital tools such as Microsoft Excel. 

Using digital tools can help fill this gap and allow them to record transactions and track their growth more easily. Lista PH aims to help MSMEs, including freelancers, logistics operators and riders, and other small businesses, digitize their business and provide a free and secure way of easily managing their finances.

“MSMEs are the backbone of the Philippine economy and it’s time we stop leaving them behind,” said Lista PH Co-founder Khriz Lim. “Through this app, we want to revolutionize the way MSMEs operate and provide them with a reliable digital partner for small businesses in the country.”

Since its launch in September, Lista has helped collect over PHP 75 million in receivables of MSMEs or an average of PHP 3,800 paid per user all over the Philippines.

Supporting the advocacy of financial inclusion for MSMEs as Lista PH’s investors is Brian Cu, former Grab Philippines president and co-founder, who shares his insights, “Financial awareness and inclusion remain to be a big problem here in the Philippines and the reason for that is a lot of our MSMEs don’t have the right tools even though they do understand that money needs to come in, money needs to go out in their business, they are unable to track it.”

Cu continued, “Lista is about helping the common man, about helping that core customer and getting them into the digital age and uplifting their lives by giving them a tool to help them understand their finances more and hopefully be able to build their businesses in a larger way because of the tool.”

It is indeed the most wonderful time of the year as bai Hotel Cebu officially opens the Yuletide season with a tree lighting event, "Light Up the Holiday Season" and the reopening of Cafe Bai, one of the largest Buffet Restaurant in Cebu, in a new normal dinning! 

The moment one enters the hotel, the iconic Christmas tree decked out in festive decorations accentuated hues of blue, yellow and red greets you that indeed do not go unnoticed. The design layout is inspired by the native roots encompassing the Filipino, specifically the Cebuano culture as bai Hotel Cebu is local from its name, down to its people. 

Among the highlights of the event were back-to-back performances of acapella group The Basics, singing-duo John Walt and Axel, and ABS-CBN’S Tawag Ng Tanghalan contestant who garnered a near-perfect score of 99.6% from the judges and is still the highest score ever-recorded, the Singing Voice Actress ng Cebu, Marielle Montellano. 

As part of the annual tradition of giving back to the community, the hotel has been collecting funds to its chosen organization, Kythe Foundation Inc as its goal is in line with bai Hotel Cebu's theme for this year and line with their official Christmas Video which touches everyone's heart and brings out the kid-at-heart of every adult.   

The event was also graced by bai Hotel Cebu's Vice-President of Operations and General Manager Mr. Alfred Reyes, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes and Mandaue City Vice-Mayor Glenn Bercede 

A double-celebration was it indeed for bai Hotel Cebu, as the most-sought out buffet destination, CAFÉ bai is finally back once again, this was where the delicious dinner buffet was held after the event. It also marked the hotel's 4th anniversary.

Last weekend, after a two-year wait, I was able to go out and camped overnight with good friends. We're so lucky our friends have "rides" so we were able to arrive easily. Here are some cool photos I took with my Huwaei Nova 7 and realme 7i. Enjoy!

(PRESS RELEASE) – Township developer Megaworld is developing a sustainable boutique hotel and shophouse district within its 462-hectare Paragua Coastown in San Vicente, Palawan. 

Strategically located in Kemdeng with its own beachline, the master-planned Mercato Shophouse District and the Porto Hotel District will offer 240 lots ranging from 250 square meters to 599 square meters for shophouses, and 450 square meters to 1,199 square meters for boutique hotels.

Both Mercato Shophouse District and Porto Hotel District are interconnected to each other, providing convenient walkability through expansive sidewalks and bridges. This district is also surrounded by landscaped parks and gardens, and an esplanade along the creek. It will also have access to the Mangrove Reserve Park via an iconic bridge.

“Our eco-tourism township offers businesses and entrepreneurs such as hotel owners, restaurateurs, coffee shop and bar operators, and retail shop owners to own land in San Vicente, particularly inside our master-planned beachside development. This district that we are developing in Kemdeng will have close access to the coastline of Long Beach Area of San Vicente, which has been designated as a Tourism Enterprise Zone (TEZ) of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA),” says JR Abustan, head of sales and marketing, Megaworld Palawan.

TIEZA’s Tourism Enterprise Zones have special incentives for tourism-related businesses such as tax holidays.

The Mercato Shophouse District and Porto Hotel District will have direct access to San Vicente Town Proper and the San Vicente Airport via the municipal and coastal roads that traverses the township. 

The company expects to generate around P5-billion in sales from these projects. 

This first area of the expansive Paragua Coastown that is being developed in Kemdeng will also have several mixed-use developments, medical and wellness facilities, church, and other leisure and institutional amenities once completed.

Other areas for future developments within Paragua Coastown include several town barangays, which will mostly have access to Long Beach as well. San Vicente Long Beach boasts of having the longest beach line in the country and the second longest in the entire Southeast Asia. 

“We will definitely have unique residential and recreational offerings inside Paragua Coastown as well. What we are building here will hopefully help San Vicente become the most popular eco-tourism spot in Palawan and the entire country. But of course, we give utmost importance to sustainable real estate because this is what everyone will be looking for when they decide to invest in Palawan,” adds Abustan. 

Megaworld has allocated P40-billion to develop the entire eco-tourism township in the next 10 to 15 years.  ###

The airline’s newest aircraft features 459 lightweight Recaro seats, ergonomically designed for comfort over long distances. This also allows more travelers to be carried in a single flight, resulting in the lowest carbon footprint per passenger, making CEB the greenest airline in Asia. 

“Cebu Pacific’s first A330neo brings us closer to our target of having an all-Neo fleet by 2027, and shows our commitment to making air travel accessible, while ensuring environmental and social sustainability,” said Alex Reyes, Chief Strategy Officer at Cebu Pacific. 

“We believe that growth and sustainability are not mutually exclusive and should in fact be inclusive if we want to work towards the greater good. This is why we will always choose the greener options – increased aircraft efficiency, reduced noise and carbon emissions, to ensure that more low fares will be available for everyJuan,” Reyes added. 

With the A330neo’s latest technologies, this eco-plane uses 25% less fuel than previous generation aircraft – able to consume as little as 1.4 liters per seat per 100 kilometers, thus, burning less fuel and emitting less carbon.

The A330neo is the first aircraft in the world already certified to comply with ICAO’s CO2 emissions standards beyond 2028. Thanks to the construction materials and engines chosen for this aircraft, the exterior noise footprint is reduced to nearly 60%, and noise level in the aircraft is 3db quieter than competitors.

 

Powered by Rolls-Royce’s latest-generation Trent 7000 engines, the A330neo also features a new composite wing with increased span for enhanced, fuel-beating aerodynamics.

 

As one of the world’s youngest fleets, CEB's newest aircraft is set to enter service next month to fly to various destinations across CEB’s international and domestic network.

Kingsford Café of Kingsford Hotel Manila opens its doors for dine-in guests. This fine-dining restaurant is ready to cater to food lovers looking for their next gustatory finds along the stretch of Manila Bay Area’s Entertainment City in Paranaque every weekend. Its doors open for lunch starting at 11:30 AM until 2:30 PM while dinner starts from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM every Monday to Saturday. The restaurant is also open every Sunday for lunchtime only. Its culinary artisans and service team are all warmed up and eager to give everyone a refreshing gastronomic adventure through its innovative twist of local and international cuisines.

Signature Dishes 

Staying close to its roots, its dishes pay homage to a strong Filipino upbringing but are redefined through modern European techniques alongside contemporary Asian executions. The concept is to celebrate the rich produce of the Philippines and its multicultural influences by featuring nostalgic local flavors to capture the heart of every guest. 

Top of the list is the Emperador Ox Tail Kape De Mutit. It is one of the signature dishes highlighting a US Grade Ox Tail. This special dish is inspired by the executive chef’s very own family heirloom recipe that makes use of civet coffee as an unlikely but welcoming ingredient. “Tablea” or local chocolate and “seresa” or wild cherries from Ilocos along with other aromatics are also added in to enhance its flavor. The dish is then finished off flambeed with a dash of Emperador Gold to give it a more bold and distinct character.

Next is the Sisig Itum. It is Kingsford Café’s own version of the famous Kampampangan dish that is prepared with burnt coconut that adds a smokey and earthy flavor to the meat. It is then topped with a pan seared foie gras for added richness.

Another one is the Grilled Atlantic Salmon, a dish the executive chef has strived to perfect since day one of his journey as a culinary purveyor. This cuisine highlights pan seared salmon fillet with braised edamame. The sauce is served with a side of grilled vegetables and balsamic red wine vinegar and honey dressing. 

These are just few of the many carefully selected dishes that’s made part of a menu list that will surely whet your appetite and keep you coming back for more. 

Design and Functionality

The outlet exudes a contemporary design and a cozy interior to maximize the overall dining experience for the guests. Beautiful wall art pieces serve as a perfect backdrop for pictures while in the venue. To give enough space to enjoy great food, handpicked modernist furniture is strategically placed for its functionality. Gleaming lighting fixtures are also prominent to give more aesthetics to the food plating.

The restaurant can accommodate up to 128 guests with dedicated seats available for alfresco dining good for 16 people. Guests may also dine privately with sectioned dining spaces ideal for special celebrations that’s perfect for intimate corporate events and other social gatherings. Seating capacity will vary during the pandemic period and is subject to change based on the government’s safety protocols and regulations.

The team is headed by Executive Chef Angelo Chubby Timban, a well adorned champion in international cooking competitions and celebrated for his creativity and passion for the craft. The whole operation team of Kingsford Hotel Manila have accomplished all necessary Health and Safety certifications backed up by training to assure you of a safe dining experience especially in the new reality. Major entrances are equipped with luggage and walk-in body scanners with the presence and assistance of courteous personnel. health declaration forms and temperature scanning devices of guests are visibly available upon entry along with sanitation stations placed in all high traffic areas of the hotel. The kitchen and service team also observe regulated hygiene and food safety standards under Diversey’s Clean and Ready program. Aside from that, Kingsford Hotel is proud to announce that 100% of associates assigned in the restaurant and kitchen are fully vaccinated.

Fully vaccinated guests may freely occupy the tables for indoor dining with social distancing standards. While a dedicated alfresco is also available for guests who prefers an open area while dining.
