Pop-rock Diva Gigi De Lana Reveals Her Secret Hopes and Dreams

PRESS RELEASE - MANILA – If there’s one reward that Gigi De Lana would love to receive from all her hard work as the fastest-rising singer and musician today, it is certainly not something material. 



“I’m very thankful for all the good things that have been happening to me lately, but that one thing that will make me be truly at my happiest is seeing my mom healthy and happy and live a longer life,” Gigi confided to the media in her online launch event as PLDT Home’s ambassador. “My mom is battling stage 4 breast cancer, and she has been my inspiration and motivation to pursue my dreams.”

From being the frontwoman of viral YouTube cover band The Gigi Vibes, Gigi, at 26, is fast becoming local entertainment's next big star. She recently released her self-titled debut album under Star Music and made her feature film debut as Love Mae in Four Sisters before the Wedding in 2020.

Yet, Gigi considers being busy and swamped with work a blessing. She calls this career take-off the start of a fulfilled dream, one Mommy Imelda has long prayed for.

“My mother has a lot of dreams and hopes for me. I want to make at least some of them come true. And I want to prove to her that she has been right all along to believe in me even before anyone else ever did. She dreamed I’d make it big one day, be seen on huge billboards and all that,” Gigi revealed.
And so, Gigi’s role as PLDT Home ambassador was another welcome blessing for someone who’s built her career around fast, strong, and interactive connections online.

“So, imagine how happy she was when I told her the news that I am now a PLDT Home ambassador! It was a dream come true for both of us and it felt very rewarding,” Gigi added.

“When I can’t balance my time with work and family, I feel like there’s an empty space inside of me. And I don’t want to feel that way. I wouldn’t trade being with her for anything in the world. I love her so much,” Gigi said.

MPIC Forays Into Agri Investments , Partners with Carmen’s Best Group

PRESS RELEASE - Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (“MPIC”), the country’s leading infrastructure investments company, announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Carmen’s Best Dairy Products, Inc., Carmen’s Best International Dairy Company, Inc., Real Fresh Dairy Farms, Inc., and The Laguna Creamery, Inc. (collectively, the “Carmen’s Best Group”) to further develop and expand the operations of its dairy farm and dairy products manufacturing facilities.

Under the partnership, the Carmen’s Best Group will integrate its assets and operations into The Laguna Creamery, Inc. (“TLCI”), with MPIC owning a 51% equity interest in TLCI and the Carmen’s Best Group retaining a 49% equity interest.

The Carmen’s Best Group is behind the home-grown premium ice cream brand, Carmen’s Best Ice Cream, and the country’s only locally pasteurized and homogenized fresh milk, Holly’s Milk. It produces yogurt and artisanal cheeses under the Carmen’s Best Natural Cheese and Holly’s brands.
Earlier this year, MPIC announced that it is seeking to ramp up investments in the agricultural sector and reduce the country’s dependence on food imports amid ongoing global supply chain disruptions and high inflation. This transaction presents a significant growth opportunity for MPIC and the Philippines, as the country currently imports 99% of its annual dairy requirements. 

 “The agricultural sector presents a wide range of possibilities that can help us achieve several goals –to strengthen the food supply chain and augment the accessibility of resources for all Filipinos as well as provide more opportunities for growth in an otherwise underserved business. Ultimately, the country should aim for substantial independence in food. And we must feed our people first,” says MPIC Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer, Manuel V. Pangilinan. 

MPIC and Carmen’s Best Group envision transforming TLCI into a fully integrated dairy business, serving local demand and eventually competing globally. “Carmen’s Best has always had family at the heart of its brand – from the humble beginnings of my father and his friend's dairy farming project, to the touch of creativity I added to turn it into a modest ice cream business,” said Francisco “Paco” Delgado Magsaysay. “This union makes us appreciative that MPIC sees the value of what we already built, while also elevating Carmen’s Best toa level beyond what we envisioned.”  
The transaction values the Carmen’s Best Group at PHP288M and is conditional upon customary regulatory confirmation and approvals.

This venture in agribusiness affirms MPIC’s resolve to be the largest catalyst for a Sustainable Philippines to contribute to national progress and help improve lives of Filipinos. It is also aligned with the Company’s efforts to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), particularly Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

Cebu-Seoul Direct Flights, 2x Weekly in Cebu Pacific Air

The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), flew its first direct international flight from Cebu to Seoul on July 3, 2022, marking the restart of its international operations outside Manila.


 
The airline will be operating said route twice weekly, every Thursday and Sunday. Flight 5J 128 departs Mactan Cebu International Airport at 12:25PM, and arrives at Incheon International Airport at 6:10PM. Its return flight, 5J 129, is scheduled to leave Seoul at 6:55PM and will arrive in Cebu at 10:50PM.

 
“We are delighted to relaunch this flight as we know this signals the restart of easier international travels for our passengers in the Visayas and Mindanao. We look forward to steadily growing our network outside Metro Manila, both domestically and internationally,” said Xander Lao, CEB Chief Commercial Officer.


 
This direct flight enables passengers from 21 other domestic destinations to fly to Seoul, South Korea via Cebu. This extensive list includes Clark, Davao, Dumaguete, Puerto Princesa, and Zamboanga, among others. 
 
To celebrate the resumption of its first Cebu-Seoul flight, Cebu Pacific awarded the first passenger to check-in online with a free roundtrip flight from Cebu to Seoul, valid for one year. 
 
Fully vaccinated travellers flying to Seoul need to bring their negative COVID-19 test result taken within 48 hours before departure, valid vaccination certificate, and a filled-out foreigner registration card.
