TMX Philippines Inc New Show Room

The event started in the morning with the blessings of all the new offices and production areas of TMX Cebu re-layout by Father Alberto Cabag, Jr. In the afternoon, the new Managing Director of TMX Philippines, Luciano Oliveira, started the Inauguration Ceremony proper with his welcome message, followed by the Ribbon Cutting together with Timex Guests and VIPs such as Liam Devoy, Chief Supply Chain Officer, and Roger Lim, First General Manager of Timex Philippines, to name a few.

The Ironman 70.3 comeback opened a number of opportunities to athletes, businesses, stakeholders and even bystanders or spectators of the event. Just like the on-demand delivery platform Lalamove, it delivered possibilities for the Megaworld Ironman 70.3 Philippines in Cebu last August 7 as it provided fast, seamless, and reliable deliveries for the premier endurance race.

The IRONMAN 70.3 marks the race’s return to Cebu after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was attended by 2,000 athletes from more than 46 countries and featured Cebu’s newest bridge, the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).

Ching Hai is Making Waves in Cebu

On August 15, 2022, Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark Mactan Cebu’s opened the doors of its Chinese restaurant, Ching Hai. Its name literally translates to “Blue Ocean”, and was aptly chosen as the restaurant is located within the water park. “Ching” which means blue, represents the wood element in Chinese culture, depicting growth and optimism. “Hai” means ocean, its vastness, and endless possibility of teasing your palates from mild and fresh to well-seasoned and robust taste to bring out the natural flavors of the dish.

Ching Hai is open to serving classic Cantonese cuisine for lunch and dinner and seats up to 100 guests. It houses eight private rooms for exclusive family or corporate gatherings and intimate booths for small groups. Guests are welcomed with a fresh, warm cup of traditional loose-leaf jasmine tea the moment they sit down in the restaurant. Ching Hai is open daily, except Thursdays. They are open for lunch from 12:00 nn to 2:30 pm, and dinner from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Brian brings with him a wealth of experience in various leadership roles spanning almost 40 years with prominent hotels and resorts in Asia Pacific, Middle East and the United States, making him the ideal successor for the Philippine's only premier 5-star family water park resort.

On August 8,2022, The Cove Live Seafood Restaurant located inside the iconic Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort reopened its doors to the public after a 2-year hiatus brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. It is a sign that local and domestic tourism has now started to pick up and usher the tourism and restaurant industry to its long-awaited recovery. 

Flavors that are authentic and bristle with local flair

The restaurant takes its name from the little-known Maribago Cove, a geographical feature that covers the beachfront of all the resorts in Lapu-Lapu's tourism belt while its food philosophy takes inspiration from the simple and minimalist way of cooking practiced by the local fishermen in the coastal areas of Mactan.

SUGBA, TUWA and KILAW is how our ancestors prepare their meals after a long night or day out in the sea fishing, simple cooking that needs simple ingredients. Our expert chefs take these traditional methods and perfect them to create dishes that manifest what a local meal is all about. Meals that are wholesome because it lacks the preservatives or additives, authentic because it uses ingredients that are no longer in common use like the tabon-tabon fruit and kaffir lime for that authentic Bisaya kinilaw so loved by our grandparents but few in our generations have ever sampled or even know about. Authenticity at the Cove also means that it uses only local ingredients like fish sourced from a neighboring town's fish market and that these are cooked fresh to ensure that all the flavors of the fish or seafood are preserved for our Diners to savor.

Speaking of Buffet, there's only one Restaurant that comes into my mind, especially in the neighborhood of IT Park, Cebu - that Uno of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. The place is special for me since I still remember in my Late 20's that my friends and I were having our dining and drinks in Uno and that's either in the City or at Waterfront Airport. Among these, Smoked Salmon with Codinments is the best as if it will melt in your mouth - HEAVEN!

Moreover of this experience, you should also try the Grilling station for fresh seafood such as Shrimp, and other kinds of Fish. The Fresh Bucket station is also a must-try as the freshness of Crabs, and Scallops will surely live inside your stomach for good!

(PRESS RELEASE) This is exciting news! Belmont Hotel Mactan is opening in the Fourth quarter of this year inside The Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu! Pioneering township developer Megaworld is set to open its second homegrown hotel development inside its 30-hectare The Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu by the fourth quarter of this year. This will be the 12th hotel property of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, the country’s largest operator of homegrown hotel brands. 

Belmont Hotel Mactan

The 20-storey Belmont Hotel Mactan will have 550 guestrooms and suites, composed of a mix of Twin Suites, Queen Suites, Junior Suites, Executive Suites, and Specially-abled Suites, with most units featuring an expansive view of the Hilutungan Channel. All rooms will be fully-equipped with essential amenities, in-room electronic safety box, wall-mounted TV, tea and coffee-making facilities, a minibar, and wireless Internet connection.

The new hotel will be located just beside Savoy Hotel Mactan along Newtown Boulevard, and only a few minutes’ walk from the Mactan Newtown Beach and the soon-to-rise Mactan Newtown Beach Walk Mall. It will also be about a five-minute walk away from the Mactan Alfresco, a hawker-type dining destination that hosts a variety of restaurants offering authentic Cebuano cuisine and other delicacies.

“Belmont Hotel Mactan will be our third Belmont Hotel property in the country. It is only about 15 minutes away from the Mactan-Cebu International Airport and will offer an unparalleled opportunity for families and travelers visiting Cebu either for business or leisure. From cafes, restaurants, grocery stores – everything is just a few steps from the hotel. Once opened, we will be the largest hotel operator in the whole of Cebu Province in terms of the number of hotel keys,” says Cleofe Albiso, managing director, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts.

Guests of Belmont Hotel Mactan can enjoy all-day dining at Belmont Café. Located at the ground level, it offers a wide variety of Asian and Mediterranean dishes, including other local delicacies.

Also located at the lobby is the Zabana Bar, where guests can enjoy a selection of cocktails and refreshing beverages. Over on the third floor, meanwhile, is the Pool Bar, where guests can sample a variety of snacks and beverages as they lounge and take a refreshing plunge at the swimming pool.

Aside from the pool, Belmont Hotel Mactan features a wide array of amenities at the central amenity area located at the third floor. This includes a children’s pool, male and female shower and changing rooms with toilets, outdoor lounge with elevated deck, fitness center, and a viewing deck where guests can marvel at the beauty of the nearby sea and the rest of the township and Mactan Island.

Once it formally opens its doors, Belmont Hotel Mactan will offer an opening room rate priced at PhP3,800 net/night, inclusive of breakfast for two (2) and access to its facilities.

In 2019, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts opened the township’s first hotel property, the 547-room Savoy Hotel Mactan, which recently served as home to hundreds of athletes and partners that participated in the just concluded Megaworld IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines.

Last year, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts also opened the 529-room Kingsford Hotel Manila in Westside City, Parañaque, in the middle of the pandemic. 

To date, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts has already opened 11 hotel properties under six (6) homegrown brands with around 4,000 hotel keys: Richmonde Hotel (Ortigas, Eastwood City, and Iloilo); Belmont Hotels (Newport City and Boracay); Savoy Hotels (Newport City, Boracay, Cebu); Twin Lakes Hotel (Tagaytay); Hotel Lucky Chinatown (Binondo, Manila); and Kingsford Hotel (Parañaque City). 

During the first half of 2022, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts posted 49% year-on-year growth in its hotel revenues amounting to Php1.1-billion.
