Enhanced Community Quarantine is extended to almost major cities in the Philippines. Of course, our family and friends who are living far away from us sometimes need our financial support, especially that most of them are not working due to this nCov-19. Just in time, Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) made an easy way to send cash from your BPI account to any Palawan Express branches nationwide in a feature called BPI to Cash. This is very helpful since you only need to login to your device at home and no need to queue in a long waiting line in Palawan Express shop.

Before your proceed, please be informed that this feature is not yet added to BPI Mobile App but as of now, you can open a browser in your phone to proceed with the guide below.

Now, here are some Frequently Asked Questions about this new BPI feature.

What is BPI to Cash?

BPI to Cash is BPI’s newest facility which allows BPI account holders to send or pay cash within the day to any receiver through Palawan Express, BPI’s pay-out partner. You just need your receiver’s full name and mobile number. BPI clients can access this through BPI Online or mobile app.

Who can send/pay cash to a receiver?

BPI clients with a savings or checking account and are enrolled in online banking.

How can I send/pay cash to the receiver?

For the sender:

1. On the web, go to BPI to Cash. This feature will be available on the BPI Mobile app soon.
2. Fill in the details of the receiver, then click on “Next.”
• Amount to send
• Receiver’s name (first name, middle initial, last name)
• Receiver’s mobile number
3. Enter the registered email address.
4. Log in to your BPI Online account with your credentials.
5. Select which account you would like to use, then select “Pay”. A service fee of Php 99 will be charged per send out.
6. Enter the one-time PIN (OTP) to be sent to your registered mobile number, and click “Proceed”.
7. Get the 13-digit reference number that will appear on the confirmation screen. Send it to the receiver.

For the receiver:

1. Receive the 13-digit reference number from the sender.
2. Go to the nearest Palawan Express branch.
3. Present a valid ID and the 13-digit reference number upon claiming.
4. Get the cash.*

*Palawan Express branches are open every day from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. However, due to the COVID-19 situation, the business hours of Palawan Express branches may vary depending on the location. You may check their schedules.

This quarantine makes us a pig! And I mean not the "body kind of pig" but that habit a pig does - eating and sleeping routine! But sometimes, it's not a bad thing since sometimes we tend to crave something most especially if we are too busy working from home or just to destress! The big problem is, most of our desires - food desires come from those Restaurants or Cafes which are NOT just a stone-away from us. But of course, thank God for the online ordering system - everything is covered!

While Luzon and some cities in our country are under the Enhanced Home Quarantine due to nCov-19, there are Restaurants which are not open but offer door to door delivery to serve us and to satisfy our cravings. But as I mentioned in my previous article, it is BEST to do cashless transactions in shopping or most especially on online ordering because this small step will surely help flatten the curve. If you have e-wallet such as GCash, then you can simply use your GCash in your online order. A number of Restaurants are now accepting direct pay from GCash such as Shakeys, Max's Chicken, Pancake House, Krispy Kreme, Yellow Cab, Bench Cafe, to name a few. But if you are using a food delivery app, I recommend using FoodPanda as this mobile app accepts American Express Virtual Pay (GCash) as a credit card payment option upon checkout. Easy, right? And of course, when this is over – we can still use this cashless transaction with the GCash Scan-to-pay feature.

What would you do after we overcome this pandemic crisis? Me? I would live my life to the fullest and of course, I'll do it with a sense of responsibility and ownership. Earlier today, PLDT Customer Service Account on twitter @PLDT_Cares was hacked by a hacking group named Anonymous Philippines. They changed the twitter name from PLDT Cares to PLDT Doesn't Cares, posted some callouts, and threatened another internet provider, Globe Telecom. Details to follow.

My last article was in January 2020 about "A Day In Hiroshima and Itsukushima Shrine Japan!" and sorry to my netifriends if I missed adding my itinerary in regard to our Japan Travels. In this article, I am giving you some points on what to do on a busy third day of our Japan Travel from Arashiyama Bamboo Grove and Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto then spending sunset at Osaka Castle then dinner and a quick tour at the heart of Osaka prefecture, Dōtonbori!

ARASHIYAMA BAMBOO GROVE/FOREST

As usual, we did not make it to our early target of arriving at our first destination in Kyoto. I can still remember my friends and I missed the train going to Saga-Arashiyama Station which is a train station near the famous Bamboo Forest. But it was okay - lesson learned! LOL

Anyways, I strongly recommend visiting Arashiyama Bamboo Forest on an early morning - not late morning or early afternoon. Why? A lot of people are visiting this tourist destination and expect a crowded area on an early 8-9 AM. We arrived at exactly 9:45 AM and we already felt that it would be filled with Tourists since the numbers of people on the street walking from the Train station to the Forest are huge.

FUSHIMI INARI SHRINE

After lunch, we headed to our second destination in Kyoto, the famous Shinto Shrine called Fushimi Inari Shrine. It's famous for Tourists because it is tagged as the ultimate torii gate experience in Japan. Honestly, I was already tired this time but but hello, it's Japan! So, Fighting!!!!

What do we have here? Fushimi Inari Shrine is very famous to Instagram due to its number of torii gates well-aligned and straddled to a network of trails going uphill. Again, it is very crowded but of course, it is part of the experience!

We just took a round trip uphill then back to the main gate. And then we went back to Osaka to spend the rest of the afternoon and to maximize our day.

OSAKA CASTLE

We spent the whole afternoon in Kyoto to enjoy the place and of course, get a bowl of Ramen! I promise myself to get more bowls of Ramen when I get back to Japan! So, we headed back to Osaka where we stayed in our first half-week of our Japan Travel and went directly to another castle, the Osaka Castle!

What can we expect in Osaka Castle? Surrounding the Osaka Castle is a big park on of which is the Honmaru Park situated in the Southern part in which Tourists or even locals spend an afternoon to chill and do some picnics. Also, don't wonder if the place near Osaka is crowded as it has a big gymnasium where concerts are held. And during our visit, it was Backstreet Boys concert so yeah, a lot of people surrounded us! But it was fun!

In addition, near the castle is the famous skyline of Osaka Business Park. You would see a beautiful Crystal Tower and other buildings. Osaka castle provides a great sunset view.

After spending a good sunset view in Osaka Castle, we headed to our next destination, the famous Dotonbori! Why does Dotonbori famous for Tourists? Dotonbori or Dotombori is famous for its night scenes of food haven everywhere. Not to mention those eye-catching giant Crab, Octopus as signages, and billboards of the buildings and restaurants. And of course, your visit to Dotonbori won't be complete without a picture with the famous Glico running man which is near the Ebisubashi Bridge of Dotonbori.

NEXT TOURIST DESTINATION IS TOKYO!!!

[OCTOBER 17, 2019] Since we booked our Osaka Hostel for 3 days only, we headed to Tokyo on our 4th day. Basically, we spent almost half a day traveling from Osaka to Tokyo prefecture using JR Pass on a bullet train, Shinkansen. Of course, thanks to Klook PH for the affordable purchase. Now, let me give you a view of what we did on our first day in Tokyo.

After arrival, we headed directly to our Hostel, Sophiearth Apartment which is situated in the KPOP District of Tokyo, Shin Okubo. Of course, aside from the excitement of touring Tokyo, an Army (BTS Fandom name) in me wanted to check the stores within the neighborhood. HACHIKO MEMORIAL STATUE and SHIBUYA CROSSING

It took us less than an hour to go to Shibuya station from Shin-Okubo station. The normal travel time supposedly was 15-30 mins only but you know, first-timer! But it was fun! It was raining when we arrived at the busiest Crossing of the world, the Shibuya Crossing. And then, photoshoot!!!

But before Shibuya Crossing, my friends lined up at Hachiko Park for a quick shot with the famous Hachiko, famous loyal Akita dog, Memorial Statue.

I've been to New York last 2018 but the aura and feels of Shibuya are different. I just love how the Japanese go to all directions in Shibuya Crossing but remain calm and respectful to other people. I am stunned!

After a lot of tries in crossing Shibuya just to get a perfect shot, we decided to head to the biggest Starbucks Reserve in Japan by just walking. It took us at least an hour to arrive at Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo and definitely, worth the effort. We had our coffee and snacks and the interiors and the hospitality are definitely world-class. You can check below youtube video for my quick documentation.

SHINJUKU DISTRICT

After those tiring moments in Shibuya, we then headed back to our hostel for a quick refresh and getting ready for a dinner and nightlife visit at Shinjuku District. A number of Ramen Houses and Restaurants are available in Shinjuku. The famous one is Ichiran Ramen and just be prepared that the waiting line would be longer.

Why is Shinjuku famous in Japan? Shinjuku is the entertainment district of Japan where you can see all walks of life. Not to mention a lavish and colorful nightlife at the Red district, Kabuchiko. You will also notice a number of Locals who are cosplaying not just in a special day or Halloween but almost every night while wearing their fave anime or cartoon characters. Aside from the mentione sceneries, Shinjuku has shopping centers, parks, restaurants, bars, and unique buildings which can definitely attract Locals and Tourists.

General Community Quarantine has been deployed to almost all provinces here in the Philippines which includes the biggest cities such as Metro Manila, Cebu City, to name a few. Some quarantine rules have been relaxed to these areas which frighten us for a second wave since people are going out for their errands or whatever reason. The flag carrier has partially resumed regular commercial flights to various domestic destinations and key international cities in the US, Asia, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and Canada. PAL has also been operating special missions to repatriate stranded Filipinos and foreign nationals to and from different parts of the world, as well as all-cargo services to transport essential supplies across the Philippines and overseas.

[15 JULY 2020] The country's top quick-service restaurants (QSRs) have tapped PayMaya to deploy contactless payments in-store, via drive-thru, and through their respective online delivery portals in order to bring a safer and more hygienic environment for its customers and store frontliners.

Industry leaders like Jollibee Group, McDonald’s and KFC have adopted PayMaya's end-to-end digital payments solutions for enterprise - starting with One by PayMaya Point of Sale (POS) devices for in-store and drive-thru, to PayMaya's payment gateway and digital invoicing solutions for online orders. With the economy opening up from quarantine measures, the food and restaurant industry is instituting health and safety protocols, including making cashless acceptance part of the standard options of doing business under the New Normal. This is in compliance with the recent guidelines on the implementation of minimum health protocols issued by the DTI last June 22. Under DTI Memorandum 20-37, restaurants in General Community Quarantine (GCQ) areas may open at thirty percent (30%) operational capacity, provided that venue capacity allows for social distancing protocols and are compliant with the proper protocols prescribed by the DTI. Meanwhile, for areas under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), the establishments may operate at a maximum of fifty percent (50%) capacity for their dine-in services.

[October 18, 2019] After that tiring walk in the main streets of Tokyo, we decided to tour the eastern side of Japan, the Ibaraki prefecture, and visit the famous Hitachi Seaside Park the next day. That was one of the best days I had in Japan last year. Hitachi Seaside Park has a lot of large flowers and other flora lives in that vast parkland and farm.

Hitachi Seaside Park is a very big park near Mito in Ibaraki Prefecture that houses a variety of green flora species and seasonal flowers across 350 hectares. This park has a small amusement park with over 25 rides including the iconic giant Ferris Wheel which is 100 meters tall. But sadly, we were not able to visit this side of Hitachi because we were overwhelmed by the autumn colors of Kochia (Bassia in English)

During summer, Kochia plants give green colors but when Autumn comes in October, it changes its color into a bright red and eventually becomes yellow or golden yellow. The Kochia field is very lovely even though it becomes crowded. When you visit the uphill, it is very windy and refreshing giving you another view of beautiful Japan.

Restaurants and BBQ stands are everywhere, so food and drinks are not a problem when visiting Hitachi. But take note, always bring with you a bottle of water as the Park is very huge that walking makes you tired and you need to replenish those fluids lost by sweating. I recommend spending at least one day here in Hitachi Park.

TOKYO TRAIN STATION

The Tokyo Station is now considered as one of the tourist spots in Tokyo. Aside from its attractive red-brick facade, Tokyo Station Marunouchi Station building is the highlight architecture of Tokyo in the middle of the glass and modern skyscrapers in the neighborhood. It is a central station from and to the other different stations in Japan. Also, you can shop here with different stores and souvenir stands. From Tokyo Station, you can just walk for 10-15 minutes going to the famous Imperial Palace.

IMPERIAL PALACE

Okay, guys, this is quick! Since we spent almost all our hours in Hitachi Seaside Park, we arrived at Imperial Palace at around 5 to 6 PM and yes, the Imperial Palace is already closed! So all we did was just taking pics from the outside and roam around a bit enjoying the green pines growing around the palace. Plus, it was raining lightly so we really need to hurry up. But I hope you enjoy the below photos.

I've been an ARMY since December 2017 and since then, I get hooked with BTS songs and videos. Their songs really give good vibes especially when you are down and lonely. iKON is KPOP boy band under YG entertainment. It is composed of Jinhwan, Yunhyeong, Bobby, Donghyuk, Ju-ne and Chanwoo. Jinhwan became the new leader after BI left the group. It was reported in Arirang Radio back in 2017 that iKON Leader, Jinhwan lived in Cebu for 7 months prior to debut. That's why he can speak Bisaya well. Check the surprise interview here.

6. GOT 7

This is one of my favorite KPOP groups. GOT7 is under JYP Entertainment. The group is composed of seven members: JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom. They visited Cebu for a fanmeet at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino on Dec. 21, 2016

PADDING SQUAD

This group is composed of KPOP idols who are friends in real life and they came in different entertainment companies. Padding Squad includes SHINee's Taemin, EXO's Kai, BTS' Jimin, Ha Sungwoon, HOTSHOT's Timoteo, VIXX's Ravi and their non-celebrity friend Jung Kwonho. But last year, this famous group visited Cebu for a quick vacation. Sadly, our fave Jimin was not able to make it due to busy schedules. Now, take a look at those Summery outfits!!! They even went Canyoneering in Kawasan Falls!
