Funtastic Island in Gibitngil Medellin, Our LIKES and DISLIKES

$

After our Church activities and responsibilities during Palm Sunday to Black Saturday, I decided to join my friends' quick celebration of Easter Sunday at the Northern part of Cebu . We planned to experience the said to be "amazing"Funtastic Island in Gibitngil, Medellinovernight - from Sunday until Monday afternoon. It was indeed a long bus ride as we met at the Bus Terminal by 4 AM and departed at a quarter to 5, then we arrived at past 8 in the morning in Gibitngil Island.

[TOP] This colorful Funtastic Island cottages [BOTTOM] FaceCebu.Net author with friends. Photos by Doc. Francis Solis

As much as I wanted to promote Local Tourism, sometimes those people who manage these Tourist destinations could not see what needs to be improved in their vicinities. If I kept on saying those "Nice" words, they would forgot to see those factors that needs to be highlighted, corrected and developed. Now , let me give you some "LIKES" and "DISLIKES" in regards to our Funtastic Island Experience.

Another cool shot by Doc. Francis Solis

A groufie with the boys of Summer. LOL

LIKES
1. Transfer from Port to the island will only take 10-15 minutes (if no big waves)
2. The water is clear
3. You can do snorkeling while watching small fishes
4. Enjoy Cliff diving as this is one of the major highlights of the island
5. Experience Zipline in just PHP 50
6. Savor the moments during Sunset - the best view ever at the island
7. Chill with friends during Night time, very relaxing
8. A lone barbeque stand is available
9. Store with water and other snacks is available
10. Trashes are well managed. Garbage bins are visible.

[TOP] With this small pump boat while on our way to the Island [BOTTOM] Just arrive, look at the view! Photos by Doc. Francis Solis

DISLIKES
1. Very limited shorelines with no powdery white sands.
2. Under that clear water are pebbles and rocks - yes, rocks are everywhere
3. Disturbing set-up of tables and chairs under those "not-so-managed" tents
4. Basketball court near the tents is not a good idea - they could have convert it to a Volleyball court.
5. A small covered room is not worth your PHP 1000.00 - the room is very small which can only accommodate 2-3 people.
6. There is no private Comfort room for that 1000-worth room
7. No other interesting spots except for those colorful cottages and bridges
8. You cannot witness Sunrise in the Island
9. Personal Suggestion : If you come from the City, this is not worth your 4-hour trip. Instead, you can choose other nearby islands ( Camotes, Bantayan Island, Virgin Island, etc)

Basing on the above posts, if you still wanted to check Funtastic Island, here's how to visit in Funtastic Island in Gibitngil Medellin:

What is Canyoneering or Canyoning? Experience it in Badian Cebu!

$

0

Per Wikipedia, "Canyoning is the sport of exploring a canyon by engaging in such activities as rappelling, rafting, and waterfall jumping." It is famously known as Canyoneeringin the US. And if you don't know yet, it is also famous here in Cebu, especially in Badian. This celebrated municipality in the province of Southern Cebu owns the water treasures we callKawasan Fallsand Matutinao River. Specifically located at Barangay Matutinao, we started the downstream canyoneering at the Matutinao River. But first, we suited up - for safety, we wore helmet, life vest and trekking/Aqua shoes!

This clear water of Matutinao River does not fail your expectation

Of course, we all look good during the Downstream Canyoneering!!!!

This kind of extreme water adventure in Badian Cebu does not just create money for the locals but it promotes Tourism. There are two kinds of Canyoneering, we can do it downstream or upstream. Upstream Canyoneering starts at Kawasan Falls in which your Guide will bring ropes and other gadgets in order to climb up to the waterfalls and this upstream activity will end at some part of Matutinao River. On the other hand, during last weekend's activity we tried the downstream version. We started with a jump at Matutinao River. Good thing about Canyoneering is that your guide will advice where and how to jump off the falls. Basically, they will perform it first before the adventurers. Even if this is one of the most nerve-wracking activities we had so far, we still managed to conquer our fear of heights. Once you are done with the first jump, there's no way you'll be turning back as the adventure and excitement will level up!

You're wondering how does the current look like? Check this out!

And here we are, starting the river trekking!

Canyoneering won't be complete without swimming and enjoying this clear water of Matutinao River

And yeah, we conquered that dangerous big rocks while on our way to our next jump off waterfalls

Here are some tips we can give:
1. Always follow what your Guides say and advice. (At all times)
2. Do not complain, Safety First! Wear your helmet, life vest/life jacket and trekking shoes properly.
3. Drink a lot of water, 30 minutes before the main event. You won't be minding or thinking of thirst in the midst of this activity. Trust me!
4. Slippery when wet is true! Indeed, always be careful on your footing.
5. We recommend to start early as 8 or 9 am, so that you'll happily end the adventure before or during lunch.
6. Put your trash inside your dry bag. We advise to bring dry bag for your phones, gadgets and other stuff.
7. Wear comfortable clothes. ( Nobody wants a trekking with coat and tie or a gown/dress on! Wear shorts and tees instead )

Lookie! Nature at its best!!

This adventure won't be an adventure if we don't play with currents!

So how to get to Badian Cebu? If you're coming from outside Cebu, see below steps:
1. From Mactan International Airport, take a cab going to South Bus Terminal
2. Take a bus with label "Bato via Barili" - Aircon or Non-Aircon - This Bus will leave every hour starting at 4 am until 12 midnight. Travel from Cebu City to Badian will take 2-3 hours.
3. Tell the Driver for your drop off, Brgy. Matutinao, Badian
4. Then contact your Canyoneering Guide.

Last weekend, a group of travelers and Bloggers ( special mention to my friend couple of AdrenalineRomance.com ) went to this famous paradise in the Visayas which the Province of Leyte is very proud of. It is called Kalanggaman Island. Specifically located offshore of Palompon Leyte, Kalanggaman Island is the best island that the Province can offer. Originally, Kalanggaman Island has SandBars in the Left and Right side that forms a pair of wings (if you see it above or bird's eye view) , thus it is called Kalanggaman or local term of "Bird". But due to typhoon Yolanda that hit the country in November of 2013, the Left wing vanished. Anyhow, this Leyte's treasure does still exist with it's natural beauty that left all Tourists amazed.

Lookie! That Paradise!!

A Quick Visit To Canigao Island of Matalom Leyte

On an early Sunday morning, Cousins, friends and I visited the beautiful Islet of Canigao, near the municipality of Matalom Leyte. As what I heard from Bloggers and friends, Canigao won't fail your expectations as what an island should look like - and I mean, Canigao Island has white sands covering the seashore, some green trees enough to complement that powdery sands and of course, if you didn't know, during low tides, you will probably love to stay on its mini-sandbar which extends far from the seashore.

WATCH: Laglag Barya or "Hulog-Hulog Piso" Modus Operandi Inside 13C Jeepney

Last Friday, A Youtube User Astig Tao uploaded a video showing how this "Coin-Dropping" or "Laglag Barya" or "Hulog-Hulog Piso" Modus Operandi works. You can see that the person (near to the Driver's seat) is dropping coins while at the same time moving his seat near to the victim (the lady with a handbag). While doing such, you would notice another person with a black backpack that covers his lap doing something suspicious. When the drama was done, you can then see that the person with a backpack finally took something inside the lady's handbag. Bottomline, every commuters should always and again "always" take care and should always look after their belongings when inside a public transportation.

Visiting Paulo Luna Resort And Spa In San Fernando Cebu

All I thought San Fernando, Southern part of Cebu, has nothing cool to offer but I was "judgmental" on that part. Just last Sunday, on a Father's Day morning, I visited a Resort together with friends to celebrate Lenny's birthday. Situated in the North Poblacion of San Fernando, Paulo Luna Resort And Spa is a "Pool-inspired" Resort with a modern style of architecture. The Resort is very clean with 3 kinds of pools and a mini-Jacuzzi. They officially opened August of last year. The Resort is available at 8 AM and closes at 5:00 PM.

This time, the classic story returns as a musical and is given a new twist with stage master Freddie Santos at the helm.
